Introduction
This collection includes a copy of Dr. Chamberlain's Atlas of Avian Anatomy, which was published by Michigan State College, as Agricultural Experiment Station Memoir Bulletin 5, June, 1943. It contains sections on osteology, arthrology and myology. This Bulletin has been donated to the National Agricultural Library by the Animal Industries Reference Room, Michigan State University. There are also numerous proofs of plates which were subsequently in the publication.
Also included are several copies of a typed manuscript which contains many penciled notes and cover other systems of avian species, including circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory, urinary, nervous, etc. Based on correspondence in the collection, most of which was written in 1944 and 1945, it appears that unnamed colleagues of Dr. Chamberlain were asked to review the manuscript and that the penciled notes were made by them. It further appears that this manuscript may have been intended to be Volume 2 of the Atlas of Avian Anatomy. The collection also includes printer's blocks which show various pictures and drawings of different parts of the various systems in avian species. These printer's blocks appear to have been intended for Volume 2, but there is no evidence that this second volume was ever published.
