The Fairbury Farmsteads project was initiated by the
Federal Emergency Relief Administration in September 1934 through the Nebraska Rural Rehabilitation Corporation as an agricultural community. The management of the project assets were transferred to the Resettlement Administration in the Spring of 1936.
Purpose of the Project: This project was initiated to make possible the social and economic rehabilitation of 10 families from the relief rolls of Jefferson County by providing them with modern homes and the opportunity to achieve a satisfactory standard of living through individual and cooperative agricultural activities.
