    • Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry
    • Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), is a type I carcinogen that is one of the strongest naturally occurring aflatoxins and can be injurious to humans and livestock upon ingestion, inhalation, or skin contact, with carcinogenic and mutagenic effects. It causes significant hazardous effects to the food- and animal-production industries. We found a bacterial strain, 3J2MO, that degraded AFB1 well, and here we tested and characterized its AFB1-degradation ability.

  14. [ASAP] Aflatoxin B1 Induces Immunotoxicity through the DNA Methyltransferase-Mediated JAK2/STAT3 Pathway in 3D4/21 Cells

    • Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry
    • As the most toxic mycotoxin of all of the fungal toxins, aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) has carcinogenesis, heptotoxicity, and immunotoxicity. DNA methylation plays a critical role in gene expression regulation of the pathological process. However, the relationship between DNA methylation and AFB1-induced immunotoxicity was not yet reported.

  16. Quantum bead-based fluorescence-linked immunosorbent assay for ultrasensitive detection of aflatoxin M1 in pasteurized milk, yogurt, and milk powder

    • Journal of Dairy Science
    • Herein, we reported a novel direct competitive fluorescence-linked immunosorbent assay (dcFLISA) for the ultrasensitive detection of aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) in pasteurized milk, yogurt, and milk powder using 150-nm quantum dot beads (QB) as the carrier of competing antigen. Large QB were applied to decrease the binding affinity of the competing antigen to antibody and enhance the fluorescent signal intensity.

  25. The Aspergillus flavus rtfA Gene Regulates Plant and Animal Pathogenesis and Secondary Metabolism [Genetics and Molecular Biology]

    • Applied and Environmental Microbiology
    • Aspergillus flavus is an opportunistic fungal plant and human pathogen and a producer of mycotoxins, including aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). As part of our ongoing studies to elucidate the biological functions of the A. flavus rtfA gene, we examined its role in the pathogenicity of both plant and animal model systems.
