  1. Deletion of gene encoding the nucleoid-associated protein H-NS unmasks hidden regulatory connections in El Tor biotype Vibrio cholerae

    • Microbiology
    • Hypervirulent atypical El Tor biotype Vibrio cholerae O1 isolates harbour mutations in the DNA-binding domain of the nucleoid-associated protein H-NS and the receiver domain of the response regulator VieA. Here, we provide two examples in which inactivation of H-NS in El Tor biotype vibrios unmasks hidden regulatory connections.

  15. Application of food description to the food classification system: Evidence of risk assessment from Taiwan as Acrylamide of grain products

    • Journal of Food and Drug Analysis
    • Harmonization of national consumption data for international comparison is an important but challenging work, yet to date there is a lack of comparable food classification system that incorporates food description in Taiwan. In 2015, European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) released a new standardized food classification and description system called FoodEx2, which provides a flexible combination of classifications and descriptions.

  20. Whole-Genome Sequencing of Recent Listeria monocytogenes Isolates from Germany Reveals Population Structure and Disease Clusters [Epidemiology]

    • Journal of Clinical Microbiology
    • Listeria monocytogenes causes foodborne outbreaks with high mortality. For improvement of outbreak cluster detection, the German consiliary laboratory for listeriosis implemented whole-genome sequencing (WGS) in 2015. A total of 424 human L. monocytogenes isolates collected in 2007 to 2017 were subjected to WGS and core-genome multilocus sequence typing (cgMLST). cgMLST grouped the isolates into 38 complexes, reflecting 4 known and 34 unknown disease clusters.
