  10. Rapid typing of Mannheimia haemolytica major genotypes 1 and 2 using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry

    • Journal of Microbiological Methods
    • Publication date: Available online 4 March 2017

Author(s): John Dustin Loy, Michael L. Clawson

Genotype 2 M. haemolytica predominantly associate over genotype 1 with the lungs of cattle with respiratory disease and ICEs containing antimicrobial resistance genes. Distinct protein masses were detected by MALDI-TOF MS between genotype 1 and 2 strains. MALDI-TOF MS could rapidly differentiate genotype 2 strains in veterinary diagnostic laboratories.

  15. Fluorescence Polarization Immunoassay Based on a New Monoclonal Antibodyfor the Detection of the Zearalenone Class of Mycotoxins in Maize

    • Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry
    • To develop a sensitive fluorescence polarization immunoassay (FPIA) for screening the zearalenone class of mycotoxins in maize, two new monoclonal antibodies with uniform affinity to the zearalenone class and four fluorescein-labeled tracers were prepared. After careful selection of appropriate tracer–antibody pairs in terms of sensitivity and specificity, a FPIA that could simultaneously detect the zearalenone class with similar sensitivity was developed.

  24. H7N7 Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Poultry Farms in Italy in 2016

    • Avian Diseases
    • After the H7N7 highly pathogenic (HP) avian influenza (AI) outbreak in 2013, and a single case of H5N8 HPAI in 2014, in April 2016, a H7N7 HPAI virus was detected in northeastern Italy. The case occurred in an organic free-range laying hen farm located in proximity with one of the highest densely populated poultry areas (DPPAs) in Italy.

  25. Microbiome dynamic modulation through functional diets based on pre- and probiotics (mannan-oligosaccharides and Saccharomyces cerevisiae) in juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

    • Journal of Applied Microbiology
    • Abstract

      Aims

This study used high-throughput sequencing to evaluate the intestinal microbiome dynamics in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) fed commercial diets supplemented with either pre- or probiotics (0.6% mannan-oligosaccharides and 0.5% Saccharomyces cerevisiae respectively) or the mixture of both.
