Nucleic acid-based analysis of the purulent material of LA has indicated that Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes were the dominant phyla, next to phylum Fusobacteria. The sporadic isolations of bacterial species of the Proteobacteria and Bacteroidetes in LA have been reported.
