Research Publications (Food Safety)

This page tracks research articles published in national and international peer-reviewed journals. Recent articles are available ahead of print and searchable by Journal, Article Title, and Category. Research publications are tracked across six categories: Bacterial Pathogens, Chemical Contaminants, Natural Toxins, Parasites, Produce Safety, and Viruses. Articles produced by USDA Grant Funding Agencies (requires login) and FDA Grant Funding Agencies (requires login) are also tracked in Scopus.

  11. Contribution of the chromosomal ccdAB operon to bacterial drug tolerance

    • Journal of Bacteriology
    • One of the first identified and best studied toxin-antitoxin systems in Escherichia coli is the F-plasmid based CcdAB system. This system is involved in plasmid maintenance through post-segregational killing. More recently, ccdAB homologs have been found on the chromosome, including in pathogenic strains of E. coli and other bacteria. However the functional role of chromosomal ccdAB genes, if any, has remained unclear.
