ADDRESSING THE KNOWLEDGE GAP OF HERBICIDE EFFECTS ON KERNZA INTERMEDIATE WHEATGRASS GROWTH, DEVELOPMENT, AND GRAIN YIELD

Objective

The purpose of the proposed research is to address this knowledge gap, and determine the effects of selected herbicides on IWG growth, development, and grain yield under field conditions, generating information that is critical for assessing tradeoffs associated with herbicide use in IWG production systems. The project objective is to determine the growth, development, and grain yield responses of Kernza intermediate wheatgrass in new and established stands to synthetic growth regulator herbicides. The research will test the hypothesis that synthetic growth regulator herbicides have no effect on the rate of growth, development, and grain yield of intermediate wheatgrass in new or established stands.
