ANTAGONISTS TO CONTROL GRAM NEGATIVE ENTEROPATHOGENS

The objective of this SCA is to search for microbial antagonists (bacteriocins) to human pathogenic Salmonella and E. coli and to develop enhanced bacteriocin production methods for preparation of probiotic treatments to control colonization of these pathogens in broiler chickens. An extension of time is required to allow both parties (ARS and SRCAM) sufficient time to confirm techniques developed under the SCA.
