Breeding Corn for Favorable Agronomic Characteristics and Enhanced Resistance to Aflatoxin Accumulation

Objective

Cooperator will (1) identify corn germplasm with resistance to Aspergillus flavus infection and aflatoxin accumulation, and (2) develop breeding populations with favorable agronomic qualities and enhanced resistance to aflaatoxin accumulation. Germplasm lines derived from the breeding populations will be used in producing corn hybrids with resistance to aflatoxin contamination.
