The goal of this integrated research project is to build immunoproteomics research capacity for biomarker discovery. We will acquire updated instrumentation and training and immediately apply these new resources to a competitive research project aimed at identifying swine barn organic dust antigens and the immune cells they activate and/or modulate. We will achieve this goal by completing the following objectives. Objective 1: Enhance training and instrumentation for immunoproteomics studies and biomarker discovery. Objective 2: Investigate functional and phenotypic properties of CD163+ macrophages and other mononuclear cells. Objective 3: Identify immunomodulatory proteins present within the organic dust metaproteome.
