CHARACTERIZING X. TRANSLUCENS GROWTH INDUCERS FROM ITS BARLEY HOST

Objective

T&C Goal 1: Training and Mentoring: During my fellowship, I will improve on my mentoring skills by mentoring an undergraduate student and new members of the lab and take part in a three-part mentorship training workshops series from Ohio State's Michael V. Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning.T&C Goal 2: Leadership & Career Development: For me to achieve my overall goal of developing a collaborative network, I must be a visible, active member of the plant pathology community. I am a member of the American Phytopathological Society (APS) and volunteer on the APS Graduate Student committee. I hope to present research included in this proposal at multiple events. These include the APS Conferences in 1/1/202324, the Xanthomonas Genomics Conference 2024, and the Ohio State University Plant Science Symposium in 1/1/202324. Additionally, I envision two high-impact publications and during this fellowship I will establish profiles on LinkedIn, Github and ResearchGate to promote my work and network.Research Aims -Aim 1: Characterize the barley-derived growth induction signal perceived by Xanthomonas translucens. Aim 2: Identify genes involved in the perception and growth induction response to the barley mesophyll apoplast.
