COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH: INVESTIGATION OF THE MOLECULAR AND CELLULAR BASES OF THE MAIZE/PUCCINIA SORGHI INTERACTION

Objective

The major goal of this project is to extend our understanding of the control of the defense response mediated by Rp1-D focusing on pathogen derived components. We will also identify and characterize pathogen components involved in pathogenesis.ObjectivesE.1.1 Validation and Characterization of the AvrRp1-DE.1.2 Characterize AvrRp1-D/Rp1-D interactionE.1.3 Identification of AvrRp1-D interacting proteinsE.1.4 Identify Rp1-D interacting proteinsE.2.1 Clone candidate effectorsE.2.2 Identify, characterize CDI effectorsE.2.3 Identify CDS effectorsE.2.4 Characterize effector localizationE.2.5 Stromule induction associated with Rp1-D activationE.2.6 Characterize effects on ER morphologyE.2.7 Physiological changes induced by CDS and CDI effectorsE.3 Assemble the Resistosome
