Collaborative Research: The Zygomycetes Genealogy of Life (zygolife) - The Conundrum of Kingdom Fungi-cfda# 47.074

Objective

Establish the phylogenetic relationships of the early diverging Zygomycete lineages using nuclear rDNA ITS + LSU rDNA markers and whole genome sequencing. Perform barcode sequencing and phylogenetic analysis. Approximately 3,000-3,500 zygomycetous strains in the ARS Culture Collection (NRRL) will be barcoded, using ribosomal DNA sequence data.
