A Complete Multi Residue Mycotoxin Analysis in Food using Liquid Chromatography Coupled to Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)

Objective

Develop and validate, meeting AOAC and Standards Council of Canada requirements, a multi-analyte method for the determination of the 21 most significant mycotoxins in corn, wheat, barley, oat and rye. The method will be developed for the mycotoxins in all five of the matrices, each of them ensuring compliance with current scientific knowledge regarding their potential for prevalence, toxicities and regulations.

Assuming time permits, to analyze select samples from OMAFRA using the new methodology. In this way, OMAFRA will be able to develop a perspective on the prevalence of mycotoxins in selected samples from selected farms. A total of 25 samples, 5 from each matrix (military standard), each of which is a composite of 3 samples, can be expected from this work.

More information

Expected Benefits:
Development and implementation of an analytical method for the mycotoxins that harmonizes the best analytical techniques available, based on LC-MS/MS, with a clear focus on the mycotoxins of greatest significance and concern for the safety of humans and animals in Ontario and subsequently other markets.
