CREATION AND HIGH THROUGHPUT GENOTYPING OF TOMATO RILS AND BILS POPULATIONS FROM CROSSES INVOLVING CHERRY TOMATO AND WILD SPECIES SOLANUM PENNELLII

The long term goal of this project is to generate tomato mapping populations and genotypic information that can be used for identifying markers for MAS breeding and cloning desirable genes for improving tomato production. The specific objectives of this proposal are to 1) Continue to develop RIL and BIL populations through single seed descendant method to their 6th generation and 2) Genotype 300 individual stable lines from each mapping population through genotype-by-sequence (GBS) method.
