Project Summary/Abstract for Connecticut's Application for RFA‐FD‐17‐005: Conformance with the Manufactured Food Regulatory Program Standards The intended outcome of this application is to advance Connecticut toward a nationally integrated food safety system. This will be accomplished by assisting the State's manufactured food regulatory program to maintain achievements and conformance with the FDA's Manufactured Food Regulatory Program Standards (MFRPS). The MFRPS are a set of ten standards, the conformance of which is intended to ensure that State's program develops, and maintains best practices for a high‐quality regulatory program. As a by‐product, the program standards are also intended to enhance food safety by establishing a uniform basis for measuring and improving the performance of Connecticut's manufactured food regulatory program. Conformance with these program standards will help the State program better direct regulatory activities at reducing hazards in firms that manufacture, process, pack, or hold foods. Connecticut will also pursue a special project related to emergency response directed at food that will further enhance the capacity of the State manufactured food regulatory program to protect public health and safeguard the food supply in the State.
