CULTIVAR DEVELOPMENT: ACCELERATED INTROGRESSION OF SYNTHETIC HEXAPLOID DERIVED DIVERSITY INTO AN APPLIED HARD WINTER WHEAT BREEDING PROGRAM

Objective

1. To increase the multicultural diversity ofnation's agricultural scientific and professional workforce, the Food and Resource Economics Department (FRED) will leverage its strong bachelor's level program in Food and Resource Economics to recruit and support 10 scholars from diverse backgrounds who have completed their Associates of Arts degree or equivlanet coursework.Each of the ten scholar will be supported for two years.2. The selected scholars learning experience will be further ehanced through participation in at least one SEL of the scholars choice; Scholars will be able to choose from participatio in an international study aboard program, a research experience, an extension internship or an agribusiness internship. Participation in these SEL will give the FRE Multicultural Schoars Program scholars a competitive edge when seeking employment after graduation or when applying for graduate studies.
