CULTIVAR DEVELOPMENT: ESTABLISHING A PUBLIC BREEDING CONSORTIUM AND SYNERGIES FOR FIELD TESTING THROUGH GENOMIC BREEDING

The over-arching goal is to integrate the breeding efforts of four University wheat breeding programs with the objective of increasing our efficiency and impact on the mid-western wheat industry. Our specific obajectives are1. Enter all of our phenotypic and genotypic data into a common data base2. Genotype all of our relevant germplasm with a common set of markers3. Develop a germplasm sharing plan that will include exchange of germplasm even at the first stage of testing and the use of sparse testing4. Use genomic selection models to predict the value of all germplasm in all programs within each state and over all states
