Objective

Develop a duplex real-time, quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) to detect Salmonella and antibioticresistance gene markers simultaneously from food samples.

Validation of qPCR method at FDA, ORA laboratories.

Characterize plasmids, virulence genes, and integrons, for their role in virulence in multidrugresistant Salmonella strains isolates from food.
