Develop acceptable physical and chemical alternatives to MB for postharvest quality maintenance of California-grown fresh fruit & vegetable commodities to facilitate domestic marketing and export; evaluate incipient injury and phytotoxicity of fresh commodities to MB alternative treatments; determine the physiological and biochemical basis of phytotoxicity related to various commodity treatments; and develop sensitive microanalytical methods for measurement and assessment of fresh commodities.
