DEVELOPMENT OF A DECISION SUPPORT TOOL TO OPTIMIZE FUNGICIDE USE AGAINST DOWNY MILDEW PATHOGENS

Objective

The overall goal iswill develop a decision support tool to help growers make informed decisions on fungicide applications using downy mildew on cucurbits and hop as model systems.The specific objectives are:1. Assess the effectiveness of infection risk models in tailoring fungicide applications against downy mildew during the season.2. Link disease risk to fungicide mode of action, post-infection activity, and fungicide decay to improve fungicide efficacy.3. Characterize growers' disease management practices and conduct economic analyses of within-season risk models to assess their usefulness in downy mildew control.
