Development of Improved Killed Vaccines for Salmonella Enteritidis

To develop a poultry vaccine against Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis (Salmonella Enteritidis).

ARS will provide a unique strain of Salmonella enteritidis, evaluate growth conditions of Salmonella, develop means to identify unusual phenotypes, and assist INTERVET in evaluating growing conditions and establishing quality control for vaccine production. INTERVET will produce vaccines, immunize and challenge birds, and evaluate vaccine effectiveness.
