Development of an Integrated Database Management System Patterned After WHONET

Objective

To develop a database management program using ACCESS which will permit data from the National Antimicrobial Resistant Monitoring System (NARMS) to be interfaced with WHONET and other antimicrobial susceptibility based programs.

More information

Approach: Dr. Stelling is recognized as the developer of the WHONET system for reporting and analyzing antimicrobial susceptibility results. However, all of this work has been done with the human arm of NARMS and analysis of data from WHO participating human laboraties. Dr. Stelling will modify and write new programs to integrate data from the animal arm of NARMS. WHONET will serve as a base design and he will interact with TREK Diagnostics to ensure that programs are compatible with data generated from the sensititre system which is currently used to obtain antimicrobial susceptibility results. He will also train staff in Athens on the use of this program and will assist in transfer of this information to other NARMS partners.
