1) Determine the inhibitory concentration of thymol-beta-D-glucopyranoside (called beta-D-thymol) needed to achieve efficacious reductions of Campylobacter coli, Salmonella spp., and E. coli in laboratory and animal feeding studies. 2) Evaluate the potential of beta-D-thymol to co-select for antibiotic-resistant Campylobacter coli, Salmonella spp., and generic E. coli or to make resistant strains of these bacteria more sensitive to antibiotics when grown in mixed populations of porcine gut bacteria.
