Development of a spatially and temporally explicit model to quantify risks to non-target Lepidoptera associated to the ingestion of genetically modified Bt-maize pollen deposited on their host plants

Objective

The aim of this procurement procedure is to conclude a direct contract for the execution of specific tasks over a clearly defined period as defined in these tender specifications.

The overall objectives are to:

— Develop a spatially and temporally-explicit model able to provide realistic predictions in terms of risks to NT Lepidoptera for current and future Bt-maize events for cultivation, accounting for ecological and landscape diversity, and newly reported relevant information (e.g., on maize pollen deposition over long distances, susceptibility of lepidopteran species to Bt-toxins throughout the EU, population dynamics of NT Lepidoptera);

— Provide risk assessors and risk managers with tools to estimate risks to NT Lepidoptera, accounting for the characteristics of the receiving environments relevant to their region, and support regulatory decision-making and the implementation of proportionate risk mitigation measures at the EU/national/regional/local level.
