DISSECTING BACTERIAL DISEASES IN PLANTS TO GAIN MECHANISTIC INSIGHT INTO PLANT RESISTANCE AND TO DEVELOP METHODS OF DISEASE CONTROL

Objectives:To dissect the function of AtNHR2A and AtNHR2B in chloroplast signaling during plant responses to bacterial pathogens.To identify cellular pathways participating in the secretion of antimicrobials and the strengthening of the cell wall during plant defense responses.To identify bacterial virulence proteins targeting plant defense responses.To identify the antimicrobial molecules in P. protegens PBL3To develop biopesticides effective against B. glumae
