Efficacy Of Intervention On The Spread Of Novel Coronavirus (SARS-Cov-2) In Farmers Markets/Food Banks From Produce Grown By Local Producers

Objective

Goal 1 - To determine the survival rates of coronaviruses on various porous and non-porous contact surfaces at farmers markets and for items to be donated to food pantries/banks.Goal 2 - To determine the efficacy of commonly used disinfectants under different conditions on various porous and non-porous contact surfaces in farmers markets and for items to be donated to food pantries/banks.Goal 3 - To conduct quantitative microbial risk assessments (QMRA) on the relative survival rates of SARS-CoV-2 or surrogates in the farmers market environment and the effectiveness of intervention steps (i.e., contact surface disinfection).Goal 4 - To provide guidance related to these issues to small producers and the staff of farmers markets and food pantries/banks for immediate implementation such as which sanitizers/disinfectants to use and at what frequency and concentration.
