ENHANCE MARKET QUALITY, REDUCE POSTHARVEST LOSS AND INCREASE UTILIZATION OF DECIDUOUS TREE FRUITS

Objective

Identify biochemical and physiological changes during fruit development, maturation and senescence that impact fruit storability of deciduous tree fruits; determine how preharvest cultural practices and environmental conditions influence fruit development, maturation and senescence and affect development of physiological fruit disorders and poststorage fruit quality characteristics; and investigate the effects of postharvest quarantine treatments on quality attributes of fruit destined for export. Determine and address the genetic basis for biochemical and physiological processes affecting fruit quality and its nutritive value.
