The long-term goal of this project is to expand the capacity to increase the number and diversity of underrepresented students in the national priority area of food safety at both the Florida State University (FSU) and the Florida A&M University (FAMU). Three supporting objectives of this joint project proposal is to: (1) expand the capacity of FSU to provide education, research, and leadership skills training of underrepresented students in food science; (2) establish a partnership with the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences (CAFS) at FAMU through integrated research and education; and (3) address one national priority concern: food safety.
