Pre-harvest reduction of food borne pathogens in animals and the environment. <OL> <LI> Development and optimization of therapeutic methods to eliminate or reduce E. coli O157:H7 from cattle; <LI> Preventative natural barriers to the colonization of food-borne pathogens.

NON-TECHNICAL SUMMARY: Several variables that may affect the efficacy of food decontamination methods will be studied. <P>APPROACH: An interlaboratory/interinstitutional group will investigate inoculum, recovery, and application variables on pathogen decontamination efficacy using a variety of commodities.
