The major goal of this project is to assess the benefits of interseeding red clover as a cover crop in continuous corn cropping systems. The objectives of this study are to determine the effect of interseeding red clover on (i) corn yields in interseeded year and subsequent year, (ii) response to N fertilizer in interseeded year and subsequent year, and (iii) residual (post-harvest) and early season soil N content. Additionally, the study will determine the growth, N content, and N derived from fixation for interseeded red clover in fall and spring. This study will be conducted under continuous corn, no-till management.
