EVALUATION, BREEDING, AND GENOMICS OF FHB RESISTANCE IN WHEAT AND BARLEY

Project Title 1 - Breeding and Genomics of FHB Resistance in Soft Red Winter Wheat: This project will deploy both conventional and molecular technologies to accelerate progress in breeding and genomics research on Fusarium head blight (FHB) resistance. Project Title 2 - Screening Hordeum Germplasm for Resistance to Fusarium Head Blight and DON Accumulation: 1) evaluate and validate putative resistance sources of Hordeum for reaction to FHB; in replicated experiments in an inoculated and mist-irrigated scab nursery and; 2) make crosses between the resistant accessions and adapted breeding lines as part of a pre-breeding program.
