Food Armor® Veterinary Student Educational and Outreach Program: Building on-farm Antimicrobial Stewardship plans

Objective

Goal:Increase the availability of high quality educational programs toprovide veterinary students withexceptional skills sets soupon graduation these veterinarians can offer additional sustainable services that help mitigate veterinary service shortage areas in the United States.Specific Aim #1: Provide training opportunities for veterinary students through the Food Armor® program and demonstrate how it can be used as a sustainable practice business model to mitigate veterinary service shortage areas.Target to train veterinary students at eight different schools each year during the 3 year grant period, impacting an estimated 400 students.Specific Aim # 2: Additional online course development:Support development of additional online coursework (8 per year for three years) that emphasizes the skills and knowledge necessary to implement effective on-farm antimicrobial stewardship principlesSpecific Aim # 3: Clinic/Client Outreach Seminars:Offer customized outreach educational seminars and implementation support for trained veterinarian's clinics and/or clients following graduation (3 opportunites per year for three years)
