The District is a municipality for 529,000 residents and 21,000 food concerns. It has now begun to inspect its "casual" food sites, including churches, soup kitchens, daycare, and other meal programs. While they are valuable to the community, many are not in compliance with the law for food sanitation certification and training, and are in danger of being closed. CES will train the trainers in 100 (half) of the sites with which it interfaces.Food handlers will be tested for change and a HACCP curriculum will be provided for future training.
