Food Handler Training Program in Puerto Rico

Objective

This project is a continuation of our Food Handlers Training Program which addresses education to 200 food handlers in the San Juan Region and 80 in four municipalities of Puerto Rico as a way to reduce the risk of food-borne illness. A ten-week, two-hour session training will be offered to the participants. The project team will measure the ability of food handlers and managers to make informed and responsible decisions related to food safety and quality issues, and to understand the HACCP and TQM principles. CES will continue with the interdisciplinary team at the Federal, state and municipal levels.
