Food Safety Education Program for Korean Speaking Farmers

Objective

The major goal is to develop a culture of informed food-safety decision making, consistent compliance, and a more complete understanding of the Food Safety Modernization Act's (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule in the small, mostly organic, and Korean-speaking farm communities in California. The objectives are to:Help small, organic, and Korean-only speaking growers satisfy the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirement outlined in § 112.22(c) that requires 'At least one supervisor or responsible party for your farm must have successfully completed food safety training at least equivalent to that received under standardized curriculum recognized as adequate by the Food and Drug Administration.' Increase small scale, organic, and Korean-only speaking grower knowledge of FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirementsIncrease small scale organic, and Korean-only speaking grower understanding of the Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) outlined in FSMAIncrease small scale, organic, and Korean-only language primary grower implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs)Develop practices specific to jujube farming that increase food safety of the crops they grow.
