Public demand for increased protection from food-borne illnesses, provides increasing opportunities for Washington State University Cooperative Extension programming regarding food safety. Funds requested will augment program delivery through increasing technical assistance available to faculty, purchase of supplies,and providing travel funds for faculty to deliver programming and attend in-service workshops.
Food safety programming will emphasize Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points across the food chain from farm to food processor to food preparer. Target audiences include food service managers, home and commercial food handlers, youth, and small food businesses, emphasizing those related to fish, seafood, dairy, meat and poultry.
