District Extension home economists throughout Alaska have identified the need for the development of a program delivery system that gives clientele reliable, less expensive access to food safety and food preservation educational resources. A 1-800 food safety and food preservation phone line would be used to answer and document consumer inquiries. This information would become a resource base for development of a "World Wide Web" (Internet) document and a CD-ROM distributed database. The future goal would be both a World Wide Web and CD-ROM based reference library of food safety and food preservation questions, answers, and issues unique to Alaska.
