The PI will conduct an annual Extension Educators PSEP workshop in collaboration with Idaho State Department of Agriculture. Develop and conduct three-four joint University of Idaho and Idaho State Department of Agriculture statewide pre-license pesticide educational programs. Deliver new power point slides sets developed for Educators conducting recertification classes. The PI in collaboration with Idaho State Department of Agriculture plans to develop and publish a new Idaho Weed and Herbicide Manual, and update and reprint the Idaho private applicator manual.
Non-Technical Summary: <BR>Pesticide applicators are required to pass a certification exam before becoming licensed pesticide applicators. This project provides in-depth educational programming to assit potential applicators. The program focues on teaching safe and effective use of pesticides and integrated pest management to reduce potential environmental and human health impacts. It is anticipated that at least 100 new pesticide applicators will successfully become certified with the State of Idaho, and will have an increase in knowledge on the safe and effective use of pesticides. <P> Approach: <BR> There will be two workshops, statewide, for Extension Educators. The PI will collaborate with Idaho State Department of Agriculture to develop and conduct these workshops to train educators on topics for Pesticide Safety Education. The PI and Idaho State Department of Agriculture will develop one powerpoint slide set with ARS functionality. This will be posted on the UI PSEP website, for educators to access for their use with pesticide safety education. The PI and Idaho State Department of Agriculture will collaborate to lead a team of Extension Educators to write a new weed and herbicide training manual. The draft manual will be finished during this timeframe, the editing and publishing will continue into next year.
