INVESTIGATING NOVEL SOURCES OF RESISTANCE TO CEREAL CYST NEMATODE IN SYNTHETIC WHEAT

Objective

The main goal of this project is to analyze cereal cyst nematode resistance found in a synthetic wheat population so that the resistance may be incorporated into adapted elite germplasm. Adapted germplasm with cereal cyst nematode resistance will improve wheat yields in the Pacific Northwest and provide a source of resistance for wheat breeders in all other wheat growing regions. Objective 1:Characterize resistance to CCN in a synthetic wheat populationObjective 2:Identify the location of the resistance in the wheat genomeObjective 3:Cross resistance gene(s) into adapted germplasm
