IR-4 Minor Crop Management in the Northeast

Objective

To perform or have performed essential chemical analytical services for obtaining data for registration/reregistration clearance of chemicals and biologics used on minor species or for minor uses on major species in the Northeast;
To work cooperatively with laboratory and field researchers of the Northeast on data collection essential to obtaining pesticide registration/reregistration clearances;
To conduct appropriate research on methodology related to obtaining residue information for registration/reregistration clearance.

More information

Non-Technical Summary: Minor crops are vitally important to the United States economy and to the diet of its citizens. The IR-4 Program generates and submits pesticide residue data to obtain pesticide registrations for minor crops. Our results will provide new crop protection tools for growers of minor crops in the United States.
Approach: Objectives 1 and 2 will be accomplished by performing field trials of selected pesticides on crops in the Northeast, collecting samples, and determining the pesticide residues in those samples. Objective 3 will be accomplished by modifying existing analytical methods or developing new methods when existing methods lack the required resolution or sensitivity for particular analyte/matrix combinations.
