ISOLATION AND EVALUATION OF WHEAT SERINE PROTEASE INHIBITORS AS BIOPESTICIDES AND MODIFIERS

Objective

The project seeks to obtain proteinase inhibitors from cereal grains to develop as biopesticides for the control of stored product pests and to manipulate to improve the physical properties of bread dough. Dr. OkotKotber will purify and characterize cereal proteinase inhibitors, consult on the bioassay of proteinase inhibitors on bread dough, and Dr. Oppert will conduct bioassay of proteinase inhibitors with stored product pests and consult on characterization of wheat proteinase inhibitors.
