Project SummaryThe Kansas Department of Agriculture Laboratory aims to help create a national, fullyintegrated food safety system by expanding our testing capabilities in both Microbiologyand Chemistry as well as increase sample throughput in both human and animal producttesting. The Laboratory serves as the primary servicing lab for the Food Safety andLodging (FS&L) and Dairy and Feed Safety (DFS) programs. Continued laboratoryaccreditation to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 will allow for a complete quality system to ensuredefensible analytical results are put forth. The accreditation attests to the competencyand technical capabilities of a laboratory to perform certain tasks and supportstraceability of data generated. The collaboration between the regulatory programs andthe laboratory will play an integral role in achieving an integrated national food safetysystem.
