LANDSCAPE ECOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT OF ARTHROPOD PESTS IMPACTING ORCHARD AND VINEYARD CROPS IN CALIFORNIA

Objective

GOALS & OBJECTIVESThe goal of this project is to improve predictability and management of navel orangeworm and leaffooted bug. We will do this by increasing our understanding of their movement and dispersal across the agricultural landscape in the California Central Valley. Objective 1. Determine larval origin of adult navel orangeworm trapped in orchardsObjective 2. Develop gut-content analysis to determine previous feeding hosts of leaffooted bugObjective 3. Characterize flight energetics of navel orangeworm and leaffooted bugObjective 4. Evaluate dispersal capacity of leaffooted bug and Gryon pennsylvanicum
