Meat And Poultry Processing Workforce Development Program And Facility Improvements

Objective

The focus of the Meat and Poultry Program aligns succinctly with USDA Strategic Plan for FY 2022-2026, goals 2,4, and 6; and, with the goals of Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center (SUAREC), and its 1890 Center of Excellence (COE) for Nutrition, Health, Wellness, and Quality of Life. Objectives, the proposed objectives of the project are:1. To enhance the operational and instructional infrastructure of the existing meat processing facility,2. To add certification trainings/workshops related to meat and poultry processing to the existing Animal Science curriculum, and3. To develop and implement extension education trainings and workshops for small farmers and ranchers.
