The purpose of the Mid-Atlantic Microbial Pathogenesis Meeting is to foster communication and collaboration between scientists engaged in microbial pathogenesis research in the Mid-Atlantic region. An important aspect of this meeting will be to provide students and postdoctoral fellows with an opportunity to present their work to a knowledgeable audience, focused in their discipline, in a relaxed and collegial environment.
Understanding the means by which food borne pathogens cause disease is essential to the area of food safety. The 2005 Mid-Atlantic Microbial Pathogenesis Meeting will foster discussion and information exchange among scientists working on microbial pathogenesis, including a large number who work on organisms of importance to food safety.
