Collaborative effort is to increase the collective knowledge of the ecology, presence, and types of Listeria monocytogenes and other foodborne pathogens found in foods, with emphasis on ready-to-eat meats and frankfurters.
Knowledge gained from these studies will better equip the USDA and food industry in their efforts to reduce and eliminate food borne disease. RiboPrinter system based, molecular subtyping studies, will play a key role in these efforts to gain a greater understanding of pathogens.
Incorporation of RiboPrinter technology into their research studies as a means of subtyping bacterial isolates for the purposes of epidemiological studies of food borne pathogens.
