Investigate mycoparasites that attack Aspergillus sclerotia and other important long-lived fungal survival structures in nature, as well as antagonistic endophytic fungi that inhabit cereals and grasses, for production of novel antifungal antibiotics with activity agains Aspergillus flavus and/or Fusarium verticillioides.
Approach: Extracts and compounds will be evaluated for other activities (e.g., anticancer or anti-HIV leads) through an arrangement with the Screening Tecynologies Branch (STB) of the NCI Developmental Therapeutics Program.
