Food Safety has always been an important part of the Extension education program. However, the proposed plan of action will focus on three basic areas. The first focus will be the education of current and potential food service workers. The second focus area will be the development of a computer-based interactive food safety information system. This interactive information system will give the user immediate access to more interdisciplinary expertise on numerous food safety issues. The third area of focus will be the continuation of a food safety and quality science fellows program for youth. The project will draw expertise from various specialty areas such as food science, microbiology, toxicology, chemistry, animal science, poultry science, crop science, communications, and computer technology, etc.
